A Season of Light: Living the Meaning of A-P-R-I-L

Dear Sisters,

This weekend I was enjoying some quality time with my son and we were talking about the

coming school year. Since he is an incoming Junior, I realize that his course selection becomes increasingly important. While listening to him, I heard him say that he is taking APES next year.

Naturally, I asked him what that meant and apparently that acronym stands for A.P.

Environmental Science. Go figure. During our talk; where I mostly listened, I learned many

things from my son. I became thankful for his drive, his decision making and his passion.

How blessed we are, my sisters, to have our sons in a school where there is both rigor and an

abundance of choice.

As I sat stupefied at the passing of time, I realized that APRIL and not APES is upon us. For me, that meant the good fortune of sharing with all of you and writing this note. I stared at the screen and April became A-P-R-I-L and I thought of what this meant with regards to our faith and where we stand:

A -Annunciation Day P-Palm Sunday R-Resurrection which is forthcoming this weekend

I-Illuminated by Christ’s light and blessed by His presence amongst us and with the desire for

L-Long lasting light and love within our homes.

The Sunday after Easter is followed up with Divine Mercy Sunday which is in and of itself an

invitation to welcome the heart of Jesus to be present within our homes. The main focus is on His divine love, His infinite mercy and His willingness to forgive our sins. Like our sons who have rigor and an abundance of choice, so to do we within the confines of our faith. We can express our love for Christ and for our faith through a myriad of activities like Adoration, bible study, prayer, rosary prayer, novenas, chaplets, volunteer work and community outreach just to name a few.

We, my sisters, may not have to take APES next year, but we can live a year of A-P-R-I-L by

staying united in prayer and together in faith-filled activities. Let’s stay true to our faith and

place our time and our hearts in His hands so that this Resurrection season can last us far

beyond this month. Don't forget to follow us on Instagram and to sign up for our upcoming retreat on Saturday, April 18 at Christopher Columbus High School.

Blessings,

Estefania
