Welcome to the Columbus Faith Sisterhood Club!

Vol. 1, Issue 1

Ladies, what a blessed month to begin this newsletter!  This month is dedicated to the Holy Family, with the Presentation of Jesus in the Holy Temple today February the 2nd.  We honor this by bringing candles to mass for blessing.  Here we acknowledge that Jesus is in fact the Light of the World.

Many times, this month is singularly linked with Valentine’s and the beautiful story behind St. Valentine.  While I love this holiday and enjoy celebrating it with gusto, I just feel that the acknowledgment of Christ as the Light of the World should be done up with greater display.  A true celebration of lights if you will.  While we cannot control how society and even our how own communities effectuate this date, we can create a stir within our homes and within ourselves.

The true reason why this club, Columbus Faith Sisterhood, was formed was to create a space where we as women can lead each other closer to Christ’s Light through Mary’s example.  We, my sisters, lead each other through our every day actions.  Not a day passes that one of the many leaders within this Club, guide me to add one more grain of sand to my “sanctity bucket”.  I truly feel, as I mentioned at our last retreat, that Columbus moms are a force to be reckoned with.  

Ladies, we have chosen to place God at the center of our sons’ lives; by exposing him/them to Marist principles and the Way of Mary.  What could be greater than this?  This decision, in my opinion, goes hand-in-hand with a desire to see Christ’s light.

In this month, let’s make a daily promise to share His light within our homes.  This could come in the form of adding an extra prayer intention with our son’s before the day begins.  It could be a “God loves you and so do I” to our spouse.  When at the grocery store, maybe we acknowledge the cashier by name and tell them that we pray that they have a blessed day.  The more often we mention God in our every day speech, the more we draw light to Him and He truly deserves to have center stage with all brilliance and glory upon Him who is the actual Light of the World!
